In January 1994 Dash came to live with me. Dash took to me straight away, and he was my only Curly who really likes to do obedience so far. He gained his official Dutch obedience title (GGl). But his biggest passion in life were birds. He was a real poacher, when out in the field he was always near the water looking for waterfowl. No need to say that the shooting days in the autumn and wintertime were his most favourite days of the year. At the age of 10 years he still worked during shooting days extremely well. His ears weren't working 100% anymore, but his nose and passion made that he founds all the birds he was send for. Dash became a happy old man of 11,5 years old. When we were visiting Great Britain in April 2005 he suddenly showed signs of bloat. We took him to the vet straight away, but during surgery a huge tumor seemed to be causing the trouble. There was no way of saving his life, so there was no option but to give him eternal peace while he was already asleep. Dash always did things his way, right till the end. Let's say he came home to die as he was born in England. His ashes were spread over the fields round Kelsmere Kennels. I still miss his drumming tail against the doors every day. Click here to see Dash's pedigree. Dash's titles & main ring results: Dutch Champion Luxemburgs Champion German Champion VDH Champion VDH Europasieger 1997 Bundessieger 1997 Winner Amsterdam 1997 Many group placings, 4 times Best In Group 1 time Best In Show at International Championship Shows Dash's best working results: GGl (Dutch obedience title 1) 3rd prize Markprøve B open class in Denmark Dutch B- certificate Dash works regular in the shooting season on shoots in Belgium Dash's health results: Due to difficulties with his coat when he was young, and food allergy I decided that Dash should not be used for breeding. After homeopathic treatment he grew a full coat, so he could always be shown in full coat. At 10 years of age his coat is still very thick without a single bold patch. Because he has no physical signs of hip or eye problems I am not testing him. At the age of 10 years he clearly marks the birds and still works like he was 4 years old, so his eyes and hips should be okay. |
